We meet on a Sunday in Kalamış Atatürk Park. We set up a seating arrangement with our camping chairs or picnic blankets. With the food and drinks of our own choice, we set a Narclub earth table in a way that is individual and shared. We dive into wonderful conversations in the shade of the trees and the freshness of the sea.
Afterwards, we are having a conversation “On Identity and Difference” with our moderator Çağlar Yıldırımer. Based on the “Ship of Theseus”, which emerged as a Greek Myth and has been thought about a lot, we carry our conversation on change and sameness from idea to idea.
According to the Greek legend quoted by Plutarch, the ship of Theseus, who returned victorious from Crete, was kept in Athens for a long time as a souvenir. Over time, as the ship’s timbers rotted, they were replaced with new ones. So much so that one day there was no part of the ship that had not been replaced. In this case, is the ship still Theseus’ ship, or has it become another ship?
